Something’s Askew.

This will probably be the penultimate panel form Project B.O.B., sadly. I could maybe get one-or-two more shots from it, but then after that, anything I post would be a spoiler.

Guess I better get my arse-in-gear and start drawing some new work (eek!) I haven’t held a pencil in about two weeks now. That’s a pretty long time to go without drawing for me. Been thumb-nailing like a champ, though, but with no luck. It’s like I need a brain-enema or something.

Brillante.

I finally conquered my PDF predicament from last week, and feel all the better for it. It was a harsh and at many times unfair battle, but yes, I do now have an all-sing, all-dancing, high-res PDF copy of my graphic-novel. I still don’t really think it’s sank in that I’ve finally finishes it. I just keep clicking open the document and staring at it.

Came across this brilliant alt-cover to Anno Dracula while looking about online today. Not sure if it’s fan-made, or from a foreign printing (I’m guessing Italian?) I like this cover so much more than the current Titian edition, I’m thinking of printing it out and gluing it with a pritt-stick over the top (if that all didn’t sound like a lot of effort…) I’m currently reading the short-story Vampire Romance from the second book, The Bloody Red Baron. I feel more than happy to make the sweeping statement that Anno Dracula is probably my favourite alt-world series of all time.

There were so many points in 2012 where I was so eager to do some Dracula inspired artwork of my own. During the whole year, however, I only managed to get one quick pin-up done. This one. It is something I would like to return to in a big way, in the coming weeks. It still feels very weird to have free-time at all.

PDF= Pain. Disillusion. Frustration.

I’m happy to say I spent the first part of this week inking and lettering up the final pages of my graphic-novel. The next step was to turn my 101-pages of high-res content into a giant PDF. This is because when it comes to reading\submitting digital work, I do think PDF is by far the best format for this function. I think sequential artwork reads really well as a PDF. I’m a big fan of the PDF format, just not the making of them. It’s just depressing when I think back to the last few days, and how many, many hours I’ve spent trying to make a decent PDF copy of my book. I’m not a great tech-nerd, sadly, so it’s all a bit trail-and-error, leaning more towards error. Every time, after hours of trying, when it looked like I’d made a break through, another problem would come along and slap me in the face. I knew this nightmare was coming, after briefly trying a couple of times in the past to do some small PDFs, but making a massive PDF just makes all the normal problems a million times harder and then throws up some new ones, also. I felt like a modern Sisyphus (I quite often feel like a modern Sisyphus.)

I don’t know how many people reading this blog come from a publishing\self-publishing background and maybe feel my pain? I just seem to be a bit cursed when it comes to making them. I think I’ve more or less cracked it now. Another hour or two of doing battle with this format, and then I can put these last few evil days behind me (famous last words.) It’ll be worth it for a high-res PDF copy of graphic-novel. That’s the current carrot-on-a-stick I’m chasing right now.

Here’s a new panel to reward you for letting me get that off my chest. Very, very soon, I’ll be able to start doing some brand new pin-ups. It’s been too long. I might even start doing some rough thumbnails this very weekend, between the sobbing fits, punching the walls, and not trying to throw my laptop out a window or pull all my hair out, maybe?

Head For The Door.

I have officially drawn the final page of this mini-series, and now just need to free up some time and strength to ink it in the coming days. While I do that, please enjoy some more guy running down hallway action, courtesy of Issue #3.

I’m kind of celebrating this weekend (sort of…) Rather than champagne, though, I’ve gone for season 2 Blu-ray of Game Of Thrones and a pack of Lime flavoured tortilla chips and dip. It’s gonna be all rutting, gutting and dipping this weekend.

This Guy.

Guess who’s about to start work on the final page of his 96-page original graphic-novel this week? (you can’t see it, this being a blog, but both my thumbs are erect and pointing backwards.) Being snowed in is a great excuse to put things off and just knuckle down and draw, I’ve found.

Sooooo many A-list babes hunting out my Email address and getting in contact… just wish they wanna talk about something other than weight lost technique. I’ve got my own weight lost technique. I burn calories with fear. I’m gonna get into shape for Summer by doing a few horror movie marathons soon. Get ready with Freddy for the hot weather, as it were.

Hack Attack.

Wow… in the space of three days, had two different dodgy Emails, from two different friends who had both had their Email accounts hacked. I think it may be a Yahoo thing, so if you have a Yahoo account, watch it like a hawk for anything dubious, my internet friends.

Keep On Running.

Tsk… no running in the halls, please.

The Whole Shebang.

As the end draws slowly near (I didn‘t mean that to sound sombre… it‘s a good thing), I thought I’d post something just for this blog. I’m not sure what the crossover rate is between here and my Deviantart page is (if any), but here’s one just for the readers of this blog. I have no current plans to post this anywhere else online. It’s the whole page, including lettering, made up by recently posted panels. See and read the whole scene unfold. I think it’s a pretty good action packed page. Things start to get really tense in Issue #3.

Hmmm… this blog is going to get very interesting in a month or two, when I run out of panels I can post from Project B.O.B. Sadly, that time is approaching fast. Be great to do some pin-ups again, though. Maybe a commission or two, should they come my way. Also got a real urge to do some creature model work at some point, too. Hopefully should be a good summer for doing new things. Maybe fit a little bit of travel in also.
