Now Even Meaner.

Just a page or two to put grey tone and texture on and that pretty much the art side of Dirge 2 done. It’ll be lettering and printing from then on (“sob”). Only downside is I seem to spend every hour lately, just staring at a computer screen (look i'm doing it now!). I expect any day now my eyes will melt and run down my face like that little, chubby nazi in Indian Jones. Raiders of the lost ark. If my eyes do hold up, then I’ll try and cut down on my time spent staring at screens once Dirge is all wrapped up. I don’t think I’ll ever be one of those guys that draw their comic straight on to the computer with a Wacom tablet. I think my eyes are telling me less screen time or risk becoming Mr Magoo.

Ouch.

How many different ways are there to draw a guy getting hit in the nuts? More then you might think. Man being hit in the nuts can be a big part of any story in comics today and here is a Blog showing some of the best.

http://nadshot.com/

Sadly not a live link and yet another cut and paste job. I thought I had figured out how to do live links last week but was sadly wrong. I’ve had this Blog for nearly a year and still can’t work out half of all the nifty little things you can do on it. It really annoying when your reading someone else’s blog and they’re bragging about how many hits they been getting or posting links that all you have to do is click on them. These people are like Wizard to me.

{Update} I just figured out how to do live links. Today I’m a little closer to becoming a Wizard myself.

It Was The 60’s.

Watched an old 60’s Batman episode late one night last week and forgot how weird they were with they’re personal Dutch Tilt’s and so on. Was there anybody in the 60’s who wasn’t on drugs?

Success (Of Sorts).

Finally after months of set backs I finally got my work photocopied down to the right size. Still a bit mad that the local library replaced the old photocopier with one so high tech, no one knows how to use. Had to take my work to one of those Copy shop and let someone else do what I’ve been doing myself for the past ten years. The guy in the shop looked a bit bored with such a simple task. Still now with all the artwork to Dirge 2 done I can get on with all the other stuff. To think some comic book artist’s have they’re own Photocopiers or even A3 scanners, they must be the happiest people in the world. Everyday they must just wake up and look over at they’re Photocopier\A3 Scanner and just think “life ain’t so bad.”

Going to be away from the drawing board for a bit now so I can finish up the artwork and do the lettering on the computer. I still should have some bits and bobs to post that I’ve been holding back. Kind of a weird feeling to know Dirge is all pencilled and inked now. I’m going to be stuck at the computer for several weeks now. Might try and fit some sketchbook time in, in the coming weeks also.

Another Day, Another Remote.

Finally got round to going Digital this week. So I now have four remotes to lose around the place. Still it worth it to be able to watch Takeshi’s Castle at 4 o’ clock in the morning.

Was sad to read of Roy Scheider death this week, but then went from sad to mad when I was reading his online obituary when one of those ad’s appeared that roll across the screen blocking what you were reading. I know the rules on the Internet are a bit different to the real world but still. I don’t think I’d want anything to do with any product that I read about on an obituary page, which actually prevented me reading someone’s obituary in the first place. That guy killed Jaws for fuck sake… TWICE, show some respect. I think the people behind that online ad should be made to go on Takeshi’s Castle or maybe feed to a 25ft shark.

Can you imagine what the world would have been like without the Benny Hill theme tune? I don’t even want to think about it. What other music could you play to people falling over or a guy being chased by a line of sexy nurses.

Batman: Dead End.

Come across this fan made Batman short film a couple of days back. It came out in 2003 and I remember reading and hearing about it and how hard it was to get a hold of a copy back then. It took me ages to find and download my own copy. Since then in only five short years, you’ve got Youtube, which means what took ages back then could be done in seconds now. Plus they made and released two Alien vs Predator movies since this came out in 03 but I still get a kick out of watching this.

It only feels like yesterday everybody was talking about this and it all ready five years old. Still it’s a treat if you never seen it before.

Slowly, Slowly.

Hope I haven’t posted this panel before last year. It got a bit hard to remember what I have and haven’t posted lately. I’m pretty sure this image is new. I wouldn’t bet anything on that fact, but I’m fairly sure it’s new work.

I’ve only just released there a few shots of people lighting up in Dirge. I think it just because if you’ve got a load of shots of people standing around I always like to have them doing something.

I’m inking page 23 at the moment and then it straight on to page 24 the final page. After that comes the more boring stuff like lettering and printing. Feels weird to be coming to the end but I’m trying hard not to rush the artwork just to get it out the way as I want to make the ending as good as it deserve to be.
