Boxing Day Of The Dead.

Pretty much just like Halloween, this Christmas, the Undead overindulging continues (although all in the name of research, of course).

I've had my own mini-Christmas miracle just recently while checking on my Cactus Seedlings to see how they were holding up against the Winter cold this weekend. I saw that one of them had out of nowhere grown and covered itself in tiny white hair.

It's gone from looking like a cute little Baby Cactus, to looking like a tiny Furball coughed up by Santa and all just in time for the Festive Season.

Pop Goes The Dead.

What better way to celebrate that there is only one week to go until Christmas then to post this pic of a gross Zombie getting brutally bisected. 

When Glitter Attacks.

I'm very aware it's the 'Festive Season' at the moment as I keep finding random bits of Glitter on me with no idea where it's come from.

It's almost scary how easily Glitter can invade your life and personnal space without you having the slightist clue it's happened.

Doctor Who Cover.

Thought I'd just share the results of something I cooked up recently while playing around with a Doctor Who Cover template page this week. When I 'Edited' the Doctor out of my recent Fourth Doctor vs the Tentacle Monster from Space-1999 Pin-Up and had a go at making a 'Faux Cover'. 

Sadly the original Pin-Up was in landscape and the Doctor himself was actually pretty small in the artwork, so I had to zoom in a bit, which is why the Art looks a bit 'blocky'. But I still think it makes for a Fun Cover, even if the Villain is 'off-page' and reduce to just a pair of Tentacles creeping into shot.

I think it still kinds of works... kind of...

I wish I had more time to do 'Fan-Art' and could maybe have a proper crack at doing a Doctor Who Cover sometime. I'd really love to do a Cybermen Cover one day.

It's Ho Ho Ho Time.

I have a rule that I never put up Xmas decorations before December, but this weekend, I decided to break my own rule.

To be honest... I just need more Christmas in my life right now.

I've even put up my little tree that I have in my Bedroom\Studio (although I've lost the little paper Fairy that sits on top).

Walking The Dead.

Probably my favourite thing I had to draw this week was this gruesome Ghoul on the go. An undead and unkempt fiend, stumbling down the street looking for someone good to eat.

It's only a matter of time before she finds her next Victim. 

Webcam Zombie.

The Living Dead take their never-ending search for Human Brains online with Webcam Zombie... The World Wide Ghoul.

This quick shot, which I took on my Webcam (hence the poor quality), is just me playing around with a Zombie Mask I picked up this Halloween.

It's only a 'face mask', sadly, but I've found when I wear it with a Hoody, it actually looks ok. Although it does make me look like a Zombie Hacker.  

Fun Fact: this is my Second time portraying a member of the Undead. You can find my first attempt HERE. 

Considering how popular Zombies are, it's weird how hard I've found getting my hands on Zombie Masks.

Ghouls On A Laptop.

You know you're drawing a lot of Zombies when you're drawing people watching Zombies in your Artwork.

Living Dead Halloween.

I think it's fair to say I'm having a very Zombie heavy Halloween this year...

Wishing everyone a very Happy Halloween this October, and hope you're all having spooky fun this Hallows Eve.

I have to say this is probably the best Halloween I've had for a few years now. Differently since Covid. I've watched some really good Horror movies and have an exciting new secret Horror project on the go. It's been a fun month and I will be sad to see it end next week. 

Also thanks to anyone who showed my recent old and new Halloween Vampire and Werewolf photos some love. It's been nice to start to talk to friends about what they're dressing up as this Halloween again, and seeing Halloween outfits back in the shops. Plus just being able to do more active spooky stuff this year.   

As for whether you're getting a 'Trick or a Treat' this year... well... Following up on last year's cut out 'Zombie Paperdolls', I've gone even more random this Halloween with my Art offering by doing cut out 'Zombie Bookmarks'. So curl up this October with a good Book and a Cadaver. 

P.S. I hate to say it, but if Zombies ain't your thing... you might find 2024 hard going... I'm just saying.

Make Zombies Gross Again.

It feels like it's been a while since I drew anything really gross... So here's a Zombie with his Guts hanging out.

It always baffles me when people draw Zombies and don't make them disgusting and gory. I feel like that's what people want from their Undead. Rotting skin and bits falling off.

He's half the Zombie he use to be, that's for sure...

I bought a new Red Shirt recently that had a cool 'Wolfman' vibe about it, so I paired it up with an old Werewolf Mask, and decided it could be my Halloween outfit this year. I think they work pretty well together.

I like that the Red Eyes match the Red Shirt.

Nightclub Vampire.

A hungry Vampire makes his way across the Dance Floor as he closes in on his latest Prey this cold October Night. Free to move among the Humans as they mistake him for just another 'Guy in a Costume', the Vampire will feed well this Halloween.

Wolfman Attacks.

A POV shot of what the last thing the Victim of a Werewolf attack sees as the deadly Wolfman goes in for the kill.

What once was Man, now nothing but a Beast who for one night a Month must hunt the Streets for fresh Meat, making a Meal of whatever or whoever it can find.

Maybe this Photo was taken from the Victims Blood covered Phone which was found at the scene of the Crime. A blurry image of their attacker, captured by accident during the feeding frenzy.

Of course really, this is just me playing around with a recent photo I took that went wrong. But I kind of like the results...

Gross Zombie Head.

Been drawing a lot of weird and messy things this week while working on my latest project. But I think my favourite (and grossest) was this disembodied Zombie Head I had to do for one scene.

The Worms in the Eye Socket is a little 'Zombie Flesh Eaters' reference.

Good Halloween Omens.

I like the fact that the last couple of weeks while out doing my shopping I've already seen a few places putting out spooky stock for next month's Halloween. 

Over the last few years since Covid, Halloweens have a been a bit lackluster to say the least. I'm hoping this year might be different.

Because let's be honest... the Undead are very 'grabby' and lack 'boundary issues'.

Back To The Guide.

This is what I've mostly been rereading this week for research for a forthcoming project...

Depressing that this Book is now 20-years old. Feels like only yesterday it came out. Doesn't help that my copy is starting to turn yellow, it's so old.

The Dead Don't Want Fame.

Trying to Livestream an unexpected Zombie encounter turns into a nightmare for a young Influencer, as the hungry Ghoul he has found won't stay still and keeps trying to take a bite out of him.

Waiting For The Sun.

Also, here's my two new freshly repotted Cacti resting in their new Pots. Both just waiting for the Sun that never comes.

Guess I picked the wrong Summer to try and expand my Cactus collection, huh?

Wounded Cacti.

My new Cactus minus the Glued on Flower. In the end I had to just go in with a pair of tiny Nail-Scissors and very carefully and slowly cut the glue out.

This meant my poor little Cacti lost all his Needles on top, sadly, but I tried to keep damages to the Cactus itself to a minimum, with only a couple of scuff marks, from where the glue had made contact with the flesh of the Cactus. 

I'm really hoping it's a wound my Cacti can heal from.

I'm also currently trying to grow Cacti from Seeds in a couple of Tupperware Boxes. So finger crossed for germination.

Halloween Hard.

Full disclosure... I've decided since this Summer has been such a wet and windy write-off... as soon as August is over, I'm officially going into full Halloween mode for the next two months.

What nature took from me in Sunshine and outdoor fun this Summer, I shall subsidise with an extra large portion of leaning into Halloween too hard this Autumn to make up for it to try and claw back a bit of enjoyment.

I was planning on taking this Summer easier and having a break and doing some epic hikes, but because it's been such a terrible Summer and too wet and windy to go out or do anything and no one wants to meet up in this weather, I've just carried on going through the Summer months, working like it's Winter.

Bought a little Cactus today and was impressed that it even had a little flower on top too. That is until I got it home and found out it had been Glued on. 

Poor little Cacti. What a cheap and tacky trick. 

Weird question, but if anyone knows how to get Superglue off a Cactus, I'd be very grateful.

Half-Zombie.

It's been a very 'Zombie Heavy' morning for me today...

First I spent ages looking at the photo gallery of a 'Return Of The Living Dead' group I just joined on facebook today. And now I'm posting a pic on my blog of a Zombie with his Guts hanging out.

To be fair, I think this is the first Undead action I've had on this blog so far this year. In seven months I've only posted 50% of a Zombie.

Grey Summer.

I have to confess, last year when the Summer weather was so hot it was hard to leave the house or do anything because the heat was so bad, I did start to worry maybe we were entering some scary period where Summers would now because of Global Warming be unbearable and dangerous and no longer fun... But I can safely say this is the Coldest, Windest and Rainiest Summer I have ever experenices and I can't remember a previous Summer being such a wet let down. 

I guess grey Summers are still a thing here in the UK for the time being.

I had so many plans for this Summer. I even bought myself my first Hat because I was expecting it to be boiling by now and I wanted to be one step ahead of the Heat Stroke.

Tiny Bones For Sale.

What a weird thing for Boots The Pharmacy to sell? A little tub of Bones that rattles when you shake it.

Raw Rex Appeal.

Won this T-Rex Plushie first time on a Claw Machine last week. I only had the spare change for one go, and fully expected to lose. But I popped in my 20p and was amazed when I manged to get this guy out in one try. 

I always joke if I had a 'spirit animal' it would be a T-Rex. I feel like this is the Cosmos telling me it's true...

Birthday Brag.

I know it's a weird thing to brag about on your blog... but I'm really pleased with the way the 'Happy Birthday' turned out on this Card I just wrote today for a Friend's birthday.

That's the thing about lettering with a 'Chisel Tip' marker. It either comes out looking really cool and stylish, or it just comes out looking too 'janky' and uneven.

My 41-Incher.

Took some time today, since it's now the Summer, to repot my Cactus.

My Cactus, which started life as a tiny stub, now stands at 41-inchs tall (or 3.5-foot, if you will), so as you can imagine, repotting is a bit of a nightmare. 

Even with it wrapped in a sheet, I still got pricked a few times. The worse part was when I had to move it, and didn't see some of the spines had come free and had fallen on the floor, and foolishly I was only wearing socks.

Tiger Turret Tossing Toned.

I decided after having so much fun using Halftones on my 'Anti-Drone Warrior' artwork recently, I'd also add them to my exploding Tank page I've been working on.  

I have to say, I'm really liking the results. Adding Tones has really brought out the 'BOOM!' in this pic.

Anti-Drone Warrior.

Modern Wars call for new and ever changing types of Soldiers...

With Drones now playing such a big part in Warfare these days, fighters welding Anti-Drone Guns are now a common sight on the Battlefield. This is my take on such a Soldier.

Also, it should be said, rather than destroying the Drone itself with a fired projectile like a normal Gun, this device jams the Drone's signal, stopping it sending back information, and often causing the Drone to drop out of the Sky.  

It's been fun to draw a modern day soldier. Something I wish I got to do a bit more often.

It's also been a blast to play around with Halftones again. 

Battling Bank Holiday Returns.

It's another 'Battling Bank Holiday', and this time around, I thought I'd offer up something War genre themed for people to enjoy...

Just a quick shot of something I'm currently working on, and as you can see, it's actually of a modern-day Soldier this time.

As a fun side-game, I would be very impressed if anyone can name what kind of a Gun this Soldier is wielding? It looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, but is in fact a real weapon that does a certain type of important job on the battlefield.

There was a big clue in the background, but I've painted it out, so you're on your own now.

Hay Fever Or Migraine.

It's that time of year again to play one of my favourite games... 

My Eyes are bloodshot and sore. But the question is, is it Hay Fever or is it an oncoming Migraine?

Squaring Off In Colour.

Just to keep that 'Judge Dredd Vs Tentacle Monster' vibe going, here's a shot of them squaring off (this time in colour). 

It felt like a very Dredd kind of move, for him to stand there with his hands on his hips trying to 'stare down' a slimy giant Squid mutant.

I think this was the closes I got to drawing Dredd in an 'action pose' in this story. It was great to get a chance to draw him firing his iconic Lawgiver, too.

Battling Bank Holiday.

For some reason recently, I've started using Bank Holiday breaks as an excuse to indulge in enjoying some War themed entertainment to relax. 

If I know a Bank Holiday is coming, I'll try and plan ahead and make sure I've got a War Comic or two to read over the weekend. Plus there's usually at least a couple of good War films on over a Bank Holiday Weekend in England.

Seen above is my latest stash of what I picked up last week. Although I should say one of these books is a reference book for drawing and one is a fanzine.

Tek-Girl.

I really wanted this Panel to have an old school Sci-Fi style and feel. Lots of 'Tek'. Lots of Wires and future Computers. I just wanted this Character to be swimming in buttons.

Face The Law.

It's time this weekend to face the Law...

Would you believe this is my first time ever drawing Judge Dredd? I got to draw a couple Judges in a Judge Death Pin-up a couple of years ago, but never Dredd himself.

Kind of tricky that my first go at depicting Dredd was in close-up, but hopefully I did him justice (pun intended).

This Blog Is On Fire.

Been required to draw and colour a lot of Fires and Explosions in my Artwork recently (as seen above), which I've actually been enjoying.

If nothing else so far this year, I really feel I've upped my Sequential 'Pyrotechnic' skills in 2023. Trying to figure out new little tricks to do to improve my Art and make me the best little 'Twisted Firestarter' I can be. 

I'm currently trying to think of ways to sneak extra bangs into my Comics so I can draw some more.

This Many...

Just in case you were wondering how many Pens actually did run dry on me, or if I was over-exaggerating in my last post. I thought I'd share this photo.

Each one of these Pens 'Gave Up The Ghost' this week while I was Inking a very important page on a super tight deadline and died on me at the worse time.

I mean it's not uncommon while drawing for the odd Pen to go dry, but this feels like an unlucky and large amount, no?

Teamwork And Tentacle Monsters.

Hope everyone had a good Easter break this weekend just gone. I spent my Easter watching War Films on TV and inking a giant Tentacle Monster (is that a normal way to spend a bank holiday weekend? I don't even know anymore.)

Speaking of inking... it's super enraging when you're working on an important piece of Artwork with a very tight deadline and all your Pens decide to start giving out and running dry in union, like they're working as a team or something. So frustrating.

How My Day Is Going.

I got water in my Ear this morning while taking a Shower and now everyone sounds like a Dalek to me today.

That... plus the never ending popping is driving me mad.

Back To The Jungle.

Just because we're over a quarter of the way through 2023 so far (which seems crazy), and I haven't posted a single 'Pith Helmet' themed bit of Art yet... So to fix that, here's a colour version of a previous panel, from a short Sci-Fi story I did recently, about an Explorer Lady on a far away Jungle Planet.

As for me, I'm really looking forward to getting back out into Nature this Spring. It's been a long, cold, crappy Winter, and as soon as the Weather starts to improve and Spring starts to kick in, I'm planning on taking some much needed Hikes and getting back outside.

Battered Books.

I do wonder what the point is of paying out to buy new Books on Amazon, when they always turn up looking all beaten up and torn and worse than secondhand Books anyway? Most of the new books I've ordered of late have turned up dinged or damages, even though I paid for a 'New' Book. 

It's also super frustrating when you buy a friend or loved one a Book as a gift for Christmas or a Birthday or something and it turns up looking so crappy, you just don't feel right giving it to them because it's in such bad shape.

A Boy And His Brush Pen.

Invested in, and trying out a new type of Brush Pen this week. 

I'm not the biggest user of Brush Pens, but I do like to use them when the Art calls for it, and I'm hoping this'll be a good one.

I have to confess I enjoy trying out new Pens way more than I should really admit. And I differently shouldn't admit going into a really well stocked Stationery Shop makes me feel a bit giddy.

Down The Hatch.

I have to confess this Blog feels like it's turned into a bit of a Warezone so far this year. Last week it was an exploding Tiger Tank, and now this week this...

I was kind of pleased that the Sten Machine Gun's 'Muzzel Flash' came out as well as it did. I had a couple of 'happy accidents' while colouring it, and picked up a couple of new tricks I can use in the future.

I also spent a long time hunting down photo reference so I could get this Paratrooper's colour scheme just right in this image. I even tried to make his trousers look rough and scratchy. 

Tiger Turret Tossing.

An unlucky World War 2 German Tiger Tank meets a nasty (but very spectacular) end.

I have to say, drawing a Tank 'Jack In The Box-ing' has been one of the most fun things I've drawn in a long time.

Jumping Paratrooper.

Last time we saw a Paratrooper on this blog, he was shooting his Sten Machine Gun down the hatch of a Tiger Tank. Now we have this one (or is it the same guy?) leaping for his life.

What I kind of like about this pose is that it makes him look like he's a character out of an old Platfromer game from the 1980's. Maybe he's even jumping to get a Golden Coin or trying to land on a Nazi Gommba.
