Pick Up.

Considering it’s just a shot of someone picking something up, this has got to be one of my favourite panels so far. Again I hope this shot is giving off a creepy vibe. A lot of the first issue is introducing characters and setting up plot, so it’s nice to have a few spooky moments as well.

I have to say, the last couple of weeks have been crap for me for getting work done. What with sorting out my new Laptop, sorting out the net and getting it working on my new Laptop. Playing around with my new 3D webcam and printing out and posting work as well. I do usually finding odd times to sit and get some artwork done lately. But I really need to pick up the pace in the coming weeks.

Been buying these Peanut Butter Cups on the way home from work a lot recently. Damn they’re tasty. Never really seen them around before. Whenever I’m in this shop, I have to fight the urge to stock up on them as they’re the only place I know that seems to sell them.

Why So Serious?

Damn it all to hell.

I didn’t want to Blog today as I wanted to get out of the habit of always updating on a Friday. Then I came across this image, which is way to good not to share and here we are.

Repo Chick.

Finally got online with my new laptop today. It’s been an annoying last couple of weeks, with classic moments like my old Laptop crashing and rebooting itself and deleting all my files apart from the ones in the Recycling Bin. Or being unable to get online with my new Laptop and every couple of minutes my Laptop asking if it should look online for solutions.

Also got my 3D webcam working. Was going to take it on Chat Roulette for a spin, until I figured that probably wasn’t a good idea.

One of the first things I came across while browsing with my new laptop was the trailer for Repo Chick. Like a lot of people, the green screen really hit me between the eyes when I first saw it. But I do really want to see this film.

Frustration.

I know how this guy feels.

Techno Death Rattle.

I bought this laptop (this very one I’m typing on now) five years ago. It was second hand when I bought it, so God knows how old it really is. I’ve had friends who’ve bought brand new and more expensive laptops that haven’t lasted as long as this one. Sure, sometimes the last two rows of keys sometimes go dead for no reason at all and the Cap Lock Button has broken off. The Arrow on screen drifts off to the side sometimes and the CD drive is dead. On top of this when I’m online it never takes much to make the webpage crash. Like if you try and scroll down before the page is 100% loaded. Not to mention the fact I’ve had to replace the power lead twice and it only has one USB point. But for whatever reason it’s still kicking.

I know it can’t last. So this year I ordered a new Laptop (on this old, dodgy Laptop) and yesterday got a phone call from the company I’d ordered it off, saying it was to be delivered tomorrow (i.e. today). I had been downloading Podcasts to listen to for the last half an hour, and got the call as I was downloading the last one. As I hung up I went back to my Laptop, which had started to freeze again. I switched it off and went and had Breakfast and when I come back and turned it on again, it’s just had a total meltdown. All my files and setting wouldn’t load up. It was like the computer had rebooted itself. Even the desktop image went back to that shitty image of a grassy hill and blue sky. Luckily I had backed up a couple of important files but lost a couple of them as well, who look like they’re lost forever now. The only thing of mine the computer had saved (just to be a bastard) was the stuff in my Recycling bin. The only thing on my computer that really didn’t need saving. I can still just about get online but all my favourite links had been deleted and signing into some sites (including this very blog) has become a nightmare.

So I was happy when the new Laptop turned up today. It got a wider screen and looks deadly… only problem is, it’s so fancy, it too fancy for my old modem and I can’t get online with it yet (make your own comedy, trumpet sound here). The harddrive on my old laptop is making some dodgy sounds or a techno death rattle if you will. But amazingly it’s still kicking and my only source of getting online still for now. Even if it does crash worse then ever now. If this Blog suddenly goes very quite soon, you’ll know this Laptop has finally crashed for the last time. And as angry as I am for losing those files yesterday, You’ve got to respect the fight in this Laptop. He’s like Rocky or something

I did however get my fancy 3D webcam (yeah, I caved in the end) working and took a 3D picture of my new Laptop. I think this shot is upside down and my new screensaver is a bunch of Ghetto Blasters for some reason.

Also I’ve been checking out the free films on Blinkbox lately (got a couple of free Alex Cox movies on there) and saw they’d updated thier Doctor Who section. You can now watch for free The Talons Of Weng-Chang, Warriors Gate, State Of Decay and recently voted best Doctor Who story of all time, The Caves Of Androzani. Kind of wish they’d upload some stories that aren’t out on DVD and therefore I don’t own yet. But I still think it’s pretty amazing, you can watch them for free.

Having A Shave.

This is one of my favourite shots so far from Project B.O.B. It’s from the first page where it all starts to get creepy. Actually, I’m trying to make it creepy from page one. But this page will be even creepier.

Got the first, three seasons of the US Office through the post today. Got tired of chasing it around on TV and when they do have it on, I’m either working or it’s on in the early hours of the morning. I’ve seen enough of them; to know they’re worth owning, so I splashed out. Getting a bit pissed off with chasing Heroes around on TV, too. But at least they haven’t buried that in a crappy, early morning slot…yet.

Let The Nightmares Begin.

Kind of like if The Terminator and the dead Baby from Trainspotting, somehow became one.

Shadow Play.

First art related post of 2010.

Been really trying to get a handle on using shadows more in my work lately. Some shots have worked better then others. Above is a shot I was more happy with. Being that Project B.O.B. is a horror story, I think I can get away with playing around more with the black spots and trying to make the shadows look spooky.

Also recently I’ve been trying to avoid going out in the snow (sadly over the next couple of days, I think I’m shit out of luck.) and trying to get this song out my head. Damn that a catchy tune. It like a beautiful itch in my brain. They always play it on late night TV and it’s a welcome relief from dodgy car insurances ad’s and the rest.

Quick Question.

Why can’t you get any old Godzilla movies in the UK? I know the original Godzilla got a DVD release but I think that’s about it. I remember them putting a lot of them out on VHS in the 90’s when the big budget, US remake came out, but that was it. I guess there isn’t a big market for them here or something? But I see you can buy some of the Gamera DVD’s here (I bought a cheap one myself a few years ago.) I’d love to see them start putting out box sets of the old Godzilla series.
